Professional Profile:
Mr Mohammed Muhtaseb is a Specialist Ophthalmic Surgeon registered with the General Medical Council in the UK. He trained in ophthalmology in London and Cambridge, and his subspecialty interest is in anterior segment diseases.
He was brought up and educated in the United Kingdom from the age of 4 years. During his medical training at the University of London he was a medal-winner, multiple prize-winner, recipient of Certificates of Merit and was awarded multiple Distinctions upon graduating.
He completed his general ophthalmology training in London and Cambridge, then went on to do specialist training in Uveitis / Medical Ophthalmology and Cornea & Anterior Segment Surgery.
Mr Muhtaseb has 25 publications and abstracts to his name, including work that has attracted the interest of the ophthalmic press and ophthalmologists from around the world. He has presented 15 research papers at national and international conferences, and had his work included in the Meeting Highlights CD Rom of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2003.
Mr Muhtaseb has reviewed scientific work for British journals, and is currently an invited reviewer for two international medical journals.
Mr Muhtaseb has an interest in international ophthalmology and has worked in impoverished areas of Burma (Myanmar) and Palestine.
His research interests include lamellar corneal graft surgery and risk stratification in cataract surgery.
Mr Muhtaseb is a member of the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.He is fluent in English and Arabic.
Dr. Mohammed Muhtaseb was a Fellow Doctor in Emmetropia Mediterranean Eye Clinic during the period 2005-2006.
