Dr Sai KolliMA (Cantab.), MBBChir., FRCOphth., PhD
Dr Sai Kolli is a British Ophthalmic surgeon who is currently working as a corneal and refractive fellow at Emmetropia Mediterranean Eye Clinic. Dr Kolli undertook his medical training at the University of Cambridge. After completing house officer posts at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and a senior house officer post in Neurosurgery, he started as an ophthalmology SHO and demonstrator at the department of ophthalmology at Sheffield University. This was followed by basic ophthalmic surgical training at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre and then higher surgical training in Leeds. He completed specialist corneal training in Leeds and then in Newcastle. Dr Kolli was awarded the certificate of completion of training in Ophthalmology in 2006 after which he undertook a PhD in corneal stem cell biology. He then undertook further specialist training with a corneal fellowship and locum Consultant Ophthalmologist position at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He started his corneal and refractive fellowship at Emmetropia in September 2009. Dr Kolli has a special interest in limbal stem cell therapies and corneal transplantation as well as cataract and refractive surgery. While at Emmetropia he is involved in researching topography guided refractive laser techniques for the treatment of irregular astigmatism and basic science collagen cross linking research in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute in Mainz.
