Professional Profile: Mr Vinod Kumar is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff and the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend with subspecialty interest in anterior segment diseases.
He was born in India and was brought up and educated from early years in the United Kingdom. After graduating from the University of Manchester Medical School his general ophthalmology training was completed in London and Birmingham. He went onto do specialist training in Cornea and Anterior Segment Surgery and Glaucoma. He was then awarded the ERTN fellowship and spent a period of six months at the University of Crete, Greece, where he trained in Refractive Surgery under the tutelage of Professor I G. Pallikaris.

Mr Kumar has numerous publications to his name and has presented over 50 research papers at national and international conferences. His research interests include new technology intra-ocular lenses and lamellar corneal graft surgery. Mr Kumar is a member of the UK and Ireland, European and American societies of cataract and refractive surgeons.

Dr. Vinod Kumar was a Fellow Doctor in Emmetropia Mediterranean Eye Clinic during the period 2003-2004.
